Open House / Kindergarten Round-Up
Still looking for great KINDERGARTEN OPTIONS?
Come to Waters Elementary Saturday, March 24th at 10:00 a.m. and see what this Fine and Performing Arts school
offers! Parents are invited learn in detail about Waters’ Kindergarten and the school’s top-notch Integrated
Curriculum. Principal, Asst. Principal and Fine Arts and Kindergarten teachers will be there to answer questions.

FREE GLOBAL EXPLORERS CLASS FOR KIDS DURING PRESENTATION!
Come try out a FREE CLASS with Global Explorers, an organization dedicated to providing children with the
opportunity to explore the diversity of the world’s peoples, helping them to understand and respect different
cultures. Done through folktales, music, dance, crafts, games, dramatic play, flags, mapmaking, celebrations,
architecture and more. Although walk-in spots will be available the day of the event, we'd love a heads up on

If you’re concerned about the Water’s community & issues of diversity, please come discuss your concerns
and thoughts for improvement! Join us for a Waters Community Action Project: Holding onto a Rich and
Diverse Community: Affordable Housing and the Waters Community. We will meet on Monday mornings from
9 – 11 starting in the field house on Monday, January 29, 2007. If you’re interested, fill

Waters School Tours
Where: 4540 North Campbell (Wilson and Campbell)
When: Every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month
Time: promptly at 9am in the Library, followed by a tour
Join us for questions and answers on this unique Northside school. Learn about its
Ecology program, its Fine Arts Program, and how these integrate throughout the curriculum
for hands-on learning. |

MY FIRST ART CLASS from Abrakadoodle
This 4-week hands-on art class is a parent-tot program for children 24 mos to 4 years old. Parents
do need to attend this class with their child. Abrakadoodle has done free classes for Waters events
in the past, and also held a summer camp there.

Tot Tuesdays
This program is fun for both parent and toddler. Waters has opened Room 209 on Tuesdays
from 10:30 am - 12:00 for families to get together for play and snacks. It’s a great way to
meet others in your neighborhood, be social and have a cup of coffee.

Shopping to Benefit WatersToday!
Waters Today will be hosting our first fundraising event at Crate and Barrel on North and
Clybourn. This is a great opportunity to knock out some of your holiday shopping while
socializing and raising money for a good cause.
Crate and Barrel is covering the cost of food and wine for the event and is hosting the
event at their store at 850 W. North Avenue. The Waters Today event will have exclusive use
of the store for the evening.

Community Paint Day - Comcast Cares
Come help Comcast, parents and neighbors beautify our school!
We’re finishing off the 2nd floor and doing the 3rd floor hallway,too!
Where: Waters School (4540 N. Campbell)
When: Saturday, November 4
Time: 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., but we’ll welcome whatever hours you can help us with.
RSVP: by November 1st (but the earlier the better so we’re ready for you!)

There’ll be painting, gym activities, face painting, AND toys and crafts for the

Thank all of you who voted in the Waters LSC election on Wednesday.
Felix Cacares was voted in as a community member.
Kristen Christensen was beaten by a woman named Hilda, but we'll be glad to see her face in our group.

Join us at Waters School for a Q&A Forum concerning a new Tuition-based PreK at Waters School.

Open House and Art Event
The Open House proved quite a success with over 55 families in attendance. Many were interested in
a TUITION-BASE PreK that we are hopeful to start in the fall. We only need 18 families to commit to this
by March 15, 2006 to get it! More on the preK to come soon.
