Areas of Need
The Waters Volunteer Coordinator focuses on helping parents/guardians find meaningful ways to participate in the day-to-day life of Waters. Please contact Kathleen Matuszewich at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions or further information about volunteering in any of the areas below.
Pete Leki, head of Waters Ecology Program is one of a kind! Please contact Mr. Leki at email@example.com to join his email list and learn about a variety of volunteering and stewardship activities.
Sandi Barlow Stone, Waters Today Fundraising Chair, is tasked with managing and communicating our fundraising goals and events to the Waters community. Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org if you have ideas, time, or funds for our fundraising efforts and/or you just want to know about fundraising volunteer opportunities.
This team works with the teachers to develop school supply lists and circulate them to the Waters Community. This team also coordinates the early drop-off of school supplies.
A few teachers request help in the classroom the weeks before school begins. This team goes in to assist with organizing, arranging classrooms, hanging posters, whatever is needed. If you have a flexible schedule and can be at school in the summer, this would be a great team for you!
This group works over the summer to make sure that the first day of school runs smoothly, from classroom line-up to making sure everyone feels welcome.
The Room Parent program gives you the opportunity to help our teachers in specific ways. The Room Parent role is one of organization and frequent communication between the teacher and the other classroom parents about classroom needs and events. The teachers will send home information request sheets regarding this program at the beginning of the school year.
Classroom Library Team
The Classroom Library team works with teachers who would like their classroom libraries organized by subject or level.
Scholastic Programs Teams
We have at least two Scholastic Book Fairs each school year to raise money for new library books. Additionally, every few months, we have Scholastic Book Club classroom ordering which gives teachers free books for their classroom libraries.
Lunch Room Team
View the Lunch and Recess Schedule and Guidelines here.
Lunch Room team members help students navigate the lunch line, open tight containers sent from home, remind the kids to eat and help our students learn how to efficiently recycle and compost their leftovers.
Waters Works Support
Events such as picture day, Spirit Week, Artisan Fair, Field Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, etc. are communicated through the Waters Community Facebook Page and Green Notes. We also post information about small, one-time projects that can be brought home or require special help.
Big Night Planning - Many Volunteers Needed:
Plans for Big Night, Waters’ biggest fundraising event of the year, will be kicking off right after the holidays. The fundraising team needs many volunteers for silent auction items and overall event planning to make this amazing night happen. This is a really fun way to get to know some great Waters parents and get more involved with the school, with a fabulous event at the end! Email Sandi at email@example.com to find out more.
Waters Works is looking for a volunteer to print a hard copy of the Green Notes in both English and Spanish for a binder that lives in the Main Office and is available to anyone who does not receive the Green Notes via email. If you are willing to do this every week, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Waters Today Treasurer:
Waters Today is looking for a new treasurer to begin shadowing our current treasurer any time and begin two-year term on June 1, 2015. If you are interested, please contact email@example.com.
Book Fair Organizer:
Waters needs a volunteer to oversee the school's Book Fairs beginning in Fall 2015. Learn from our current organizer, Lori Roberts, by assisting her. The first book fair of the school year begins on Tuesday, Dec. 9. The second and final book fair of this school year will be in the spring. If you are interested, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
