How to Help with Big Night
Planning for Waters’ Big Night 2018 is well underway, and we need your help! It takes a village to pull off our biggest fundraiser of the year, and getting involved is a great way to connect with other Waters’ parents and ensure the event is successful. Here are some easy ways to contribute:
Donate – Do you own a local business or have a skill to share with our community? Please donate an item, gift certificate or your time, and we will auction it off to the highest bidder. Please contact Lisa Kearney, who is receiving donations. The donations deadline is April 6.
Host a Party – Parties are a great way to raise money AND build community. Join forces with your friends to host a parent, kid or family party. Past parties have included Kids’ Movie Night, Craft Beer Tasting, and Men’s Game Night – be creative! Please contact Vanessa Summer about parties.
Plan an Amazing Big Night – We’re looking for people to help on various committees – Donations, Decorations, Communications and more. Take a look and sign up for what speaks to you! We’ll also be looking for volunteers to help during the event, so stay tuned.
Attend Big Night – Watch for news on ticket sales, and come to the DANK Haus on May 5 to support and celebrate our wonderful school with fellow parents, teachers, and staff.
Minecraft Team Build Challenge Camp
February 19 – Power Up Tech Academy, 2867 N Clybourn Ave, 1:00-3:00 p.m.
On President's Day when there is no school, you can support Waters and give your kids a different kind of learning experience at Power Up Tech Academy's Minecraft Team Build Challenge Camp. This camp session is exclusive to Waters! In this 2-hour camp, kids will work as a team to design and build their best possible creation. Kids develop teamwork, creativity and building design skills, while having a lot of fun. Past teams have designed cruise ships, roller coasters, castles and more. The camp is recommended for kids ages 7 to 12. The cost is $30 per child. All levels of Minecraft experience are welcome. To support Waters Elementary, $10 of your camp fee will be given back to WatersToday! Please register online for camp.

It's $25 per person, pizza and light appetizers included, cash bar with drink specials. All proceeds will benefit the 8th grade annual class trip. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., trivia will start at 7:30 and end at 11:00 p.m. Buy tickets and sign up your team. Hope to see you there!
Big Night Planning Meeting
Thursday, January 18 – Gideon Welles 8:00 p.m.
It’s that time of year when we start planning our biggest fundraiser of the year. Our annual Big Night Gala is on May 5, so get ready for a fun fiesta because this year it will be a Cinco De Mayo themed party! Also, get your sitters in place as this is an adult only party (for real, you don’t want to be scrambling for a sitter at the last minute). The big event will take place at the Dank Haus.
In order to make this event a success, we need a lot of support and volunteers. The greatest part is you can choose how involved you want to be and any volunteer position, (big or small) makes a huge impact and helps to raise money that goes directly to Waters. If you are interested in learning what all the fun is about, please come out to Gideon Welles, 4500 N Lincoln Ave. on Thursday, January 18 at 8:00 p.m. to find out how you can help. There are plenty of committees you can join including (but not limited to): the online auction, the Waters Block Project, Food and Drink Committee, Party Committee, Decorations, Thank You Committee, Little Big Night, Communications and more.
This is a great way to get involved, have fun, and meet lots of great Waters parents. We can’t wait to meet you! Questions, email WatersToday.
