Volunteer at Waters
Parent volunteers are an integral part of the Waters community. WatersToday organizes the school's many volunteer needs, providing a link between administrative and staff needs and parents seeking involvement in school activities.
To get involved, please email the WatersToday Volunteer Team and check out our list of volunteer opportunities below.
Ecology Program Support
Mr. Leki needs volunteers on a regular basis for field trips, classroom projects and more. He communicates volunteer needs through the weekly Green Notes email and his ecology newsletter. To subscribe to his ecology email newsletter, please contact Mr. Leki.
Visual Arts Program Support
Mrs. Vecchioni needs volunteers on an ongoing basis to help photograph student artwork and archive it on Artsonia. She also needs a team of volunteers to help hang and take down student artwork as part of the fall and spring visual arts shows.
Community Garden Night
Wednesday nights are work nights in the garden from 5 p.m. until dark. This is a seasonal activity that takes place through the end of October and resumes again in spring. Just show up to lend a hand!
Grants help sustain school programs and buy needed equipment and materials. If you can help write grants, or if you know of a foundation whose funding interests match our goals, please contact us!
The Harvest Day event typically occurs the last week of October. Volunteers are needed throughout the day to help with activities such as face painting, petting zoo, potato feast, pumpkin patch and more. Watch the Green Notes email for details.
Waters hosts a Scholastic Book Fair in the fall and spring. We are looking for a parent or two to help coordinate the book fairs. If interested, please contact Hilary Prosser.
STEM Exhibition Judges
Parents and caregivers can volunteer to judge the middle school STEM Exhibition, which usually occurs in December. Watch for more information in Green Notes.
Bulletin Board Creative Team
Are you crafty or creative? Volunteers are needed to design a few school bulletin boards during the year.
Many teachers find it helpful to have a room parent, someone the teacher can communicate with directly to coordinate classroom needs, volunteers, special events, etc. If you are interested in this role, please contact your homeroom teacher.
Fundraising Team Support
Volunteer to help WatersToday with its annual pledge drive, Big Night or other fundraising activities. Email the fundraising team to help.
