Plan a Party for Big Night

1/14/2020

What is a parent party? A parent party is a party hosted by a parent to be purchased by our Waters community. Past parent parties have included backyard BBQs, outdoor movies for kids, cookie decorating, game nights and more. Often times, multiple families get together and host larger parties such as wine strolls, beer tastings, food tastings, karaoke parties, dance parties, etc. Parent parties help build community and raise lots of money for our amazing school!

Be creative! You could host a backyard s'mores and fire pit party, a trip to the zoo with five kids, an ice cream party, a bourbon tasting party – the options are endless! You choose the place and all the details, the maximum number of people, who can attend (e.g. 1st grade, kids, parents), and the price per attendee. Costs incurred for parties are taken on by the host(s). All money raised goes to the school.

Interested in hosting? Please submit your party plans by February 1, and/or contact Vanessa Summer with questions.

Donations Due Saturday, February 1
Big Night 2020 is around the corner and we are in need of items for our online auction. Do you have a talent or a connection? Do you happen to have a best friend who owns a restaurant who might donate a gift card or a tasting? Do you work for an amazing company who will donate a gift? Are you an artist who would like to donate a piece of work?  Does your tattoo artist owe you a favor? Do you belong to a CSA farm that can donate some veggies?

Last year we raised over $25,000 from our online silent auction and know we can do it again. Contact us at bignight@waterstoday.org if you would like to donate to the auction or have a connection. We would love to hear from you!

Hello Waters Parent Volunteers,

As we head into the new year, let’s look back at the long list of wonderful community moments we’ve shared at our school:
  • Kinder Meet and Greet
  • Curriculum Night
  • Volunteer Fair
  • Our Most Successful Pledge Drive Ever (which included plenty of shopping and dining events)
  • Day of the Dead Craftmaking
  • Our Pledge Drive Party who can forget sliming the teachers?
  • Harvest Day
  • Maker Fair, which included a fantastic cake walk, the giving tree, and loads of holiday fun
  • Our annual Scholastic Book Fair - our most successful book fair ever by the way
  • And a wonderful mix of 8th grade trip fundraisers including the Car Wash, Family Dance, the Ultimate Ninja event and the Mattress Sale

We can all agree that was a great start to the year, and that’s why we’re reaching out now as we head into the new semester. Plan to expect the same level of fun at Waters School in 2020! Here is a list of events that happen early in the year, and will provide plenty of opportunities for all Waters parents to get involved. Whether you’ve got an hour or two in the evenings, time during the day, or a skill or talent you can share, there is something for everyone. Please email us at volunteer@waterstoday.org and let us know what interest you.
