Please join the Waters community by celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week, May 6-10, 2019. We hope to have every family involved, in whatever way possible. Donate your time, write a thank you note, contribute a small monetary donation, lend a helping hand. Or do it all! We are looking for 100% participation and need your help to make a difference!

Plans are in the works to make it a special week for the approximately 65 teachers and staff at Waters. Here is a peek into what is being planned:

  • catered lunch
  • thank you notes, cards, and posters
  • gift cards and Waters swag
  • annual "Breakfast of Champions" potluck breakfast

Little Big Night 2019

Little Big Night returns to Waters next month! We invite all kids, parents and community members to join us on the school field for a fun-filled after-school event with performances by Waters' Rock Band, Mr. Leki, and CircEsteem. And once again, Voice of the City, a not-for-profit arts alliance that helps build community through art, returns as the official MC of Little Big Night with a few of their performers on hand to entertain as well.

In addition, we will fire up the oven and have free pizza slices and treats while they last, a food truck, an arts/crafts table where you can paint a rock as part of #watersROCKS project, and additional giveaways.

Brew It for the Kids

Get your home-brew on! Come sample dozens of home-brewed beers and ciders (and maybe even kombucha!) made by home brewers in support of Waters and Hamilton Elementary Schools. Last year we had 10 brewers with 14 different brews and it was great fun. Thanks to Dovetail Studios and Lincoln Square Barber Shop for supporting this annual  event.

Tickets are $35 and on sale now! Tasting glasses and small bites included. NOTE: If you bought your ticket(s) at Big Night you are on the list.

Are you watching your kids scroll through life, with rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Join us for a showing of SCREENAGERS, as Physician, filmmaker and parent Delaney Ruston takes a deeply personal approach, probing the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.

The Waters Walk-a-thon returns this spring for grades K-8 on Wednesday, June 5. Stay tuned for additional information regarding volunteer opportunities and specific walk/run grade time slots. 


We're looking for a few more incentive prizes. Do you have access to Bulls, Blackhawks, Bears, or Cubs tickets to donate? If so, please contact Ann Hopkins Avery or Erica Battin.
